Rep. Andrew Myers Voted AGAINST bringing the 2026 Gun Violence Prevention Package to a Vote

While Annunciation School parents sat in the balcony watching, Rep. Myers voted in lock-step with his party to refuse to even debate and vote on a comprehensive gun violence prevention package passed by the MN Senate. A legislator’s job is to consider and vote on bills, and he couldn’t even do the bare minimum. It would have taken just one more vote to discuss and vote on the bill; even if he disagrees with it’s content, he should agree to discuss and vote on the bill.

As a result of refusing to hear this bill:

  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to funding for school safety resources and additional funding for mental health support and statewide violence prevention research centers.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to improvements for Extreme Risk Protection Orders, as supported by our local law enforcement.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to banning high-capacity magazines holding more than 17 rounds.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to secure storage laws to prevent access by prohibited persons, and expanded gun-free school zones.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to making it a felony to possess or sell unserialized and untraceable firearms, and require existing ones to be registered with a unique serial number.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to restricting 3D printed firearms.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to the binary trigger ban, which enables semiautomatic weapons to fire more rapidly.
  • Rep. Andrew Myers voted NO to prohibiting new sales of military-style assault weapons like the AR-15.
